The Dutch flag is red, white and blue. At one time, the top of the flag was orange instead of red. The flag is also known as the Prince’s Flag, after Prince William of Orange, the most famous ancestor of our Queen. On special holidays – a royal birthday, jubilee or wedding, for example – an orange pennant (a kind of ribbon) is attached to the flag in honour of the royal family.
