Hi! My name is Merel,
and I’m going to tell you about the people who live in the Netherlands.
More than 16 million people live here, making this one of the most crowded countries in the world. Because everyone lives so close to each other, it is important to make agreements about all kinds of things. So the Dutch are used to talking things over when they disagree and standing up for themselves and their ideas.
The Dutch are known for accepting and tolerating people with other opinions. They are also very fond of their freedom. The Dutch constitution says that everyone is equal and should have the same chances in life.
The Dutch don’t like a fuss, because they’re very down-to-earth. One well-known Dutch saying is ‘Just act normally, that’s crazy enough as it is!’.
